Gluten Free Fish and Chips

We visited the Paragon Fish Bar in Birchington. They have a small restaurant area and do gluten free fish and chips. (Chicken and sausages too). Very friendly staff and the whole family enjoyed it. The restaurant can be found at 100 Station Rd, Birchington, Kent. (Ideal after a day at the nearby Minnis Bay.)

  1. I'm looking forward to visiting the Paragon soon. Do they use a separate fryer for the GF Fish & Chips?

If you're a fan of GF Fish & Chips check out Rossi's in Swansea, and the Rhos Harbour Bistro in Colwyn Bay.

The Fish n' Chicken & Chip shop in Baldock, Herts also do GF Fish & Chips on the last Tuesday of every month.

Getting hungry just thinking about it!

Great blog by the way, good work.

  2. Went to Birchington last week. Great chips. The batter for the fish was OK, bit heavy and not crispy.

It's interesting to note the different types of flour/batter mixture each chippy uses and the results. Birchington was quite pancake-y, Rossi's was cornmeal/flour, and Baldock and Colwyn Bay's used something more 'normal'.

When making fish & chips at home we tend to go for rice flour, or the Glutafin White Mix.

  3. Hi Richard

Will certainly give the home made batter a try. If we're in Wales we'll try the restaurants!
